Oerlikon Balzers is celebrating 25 years of operations in Pune, India. The specialist for surface solutions inaugurated its new forming tools facility at its existing customer centre at the celebrations.

Oerlikon Balzers has been present in the Indian market for the past 25 years. It celebrated its anniversary in Pune on 12 October, where it also inaugurated its new forming tools center at its significantly expanded customer center. A leading supplier of surface solutions, Oerlikon Balzers will serve suppliers in various sectors in the metal forming and plastics processing industry from its center in Pune.

Since Oerlikon Balzers’ first customer center in India opened in Pune in 1994, it has become a “key pillar in the company’s global business”, according to a press release. The demand for its high-end coatings and pre- and post-treatment services have continually grown over the past 25 years, leading Oerlikon Balzers to open new customer centers and expand existing production facilities.

Over the past 25 years, Oerlikon Balzers has built a “strong reputation” and positioned itself “as a leader in the coating industry in India”, said Dr. Wolfang Kalss, head of cutting tools. Pravin Shirse, regional executive for India/South East Asia, said that he feels “honored to be able to lead such a fantastic team of dedicated and motivated men and women”, adding that many of them joined Oerlikon Balzers “at a very young age and have since risen to very high positions in the organization”.
