Hilcona links recipes to climate database
Hilcona AG is the first food company to introduce a CO2 score. This provides information on the climate friendliness of foods in Hilcona’s database containing 600 recipes. It also aims to prevent food waste.
According to a press release, Hilcona is bringing positive climate action to the table: The Liechtenstein-based food manufacturer has integrated a CO2 score in the recipe collection of Hilcona Foodservice. The company received scientific support for this from Zurich’s Eaternity Institute. According to the information provided, it is the world leader in calculating food sustainability.
Axel Dröge, Project Lead and Hilcona Foodservice Manager Concept Development, commented in the press release: “We are linking Eaternity’s already proven climate database with the extensive recipe database of Hilcona Foodservice. This joint exchange between the two systems will immediately provide the unique opportunity for cooks to actively commit to the environment in the simplest way without forgoing pleasure.”
It is possible to filter the 600 plus recipes for professional chefs provided in English, French, and German via a cloud-based database by the new CO2 score and the Nutri-Score. Additionally, the recipes aim to support both private and professional cooks when shopping for the correct quantities of food with the intention of preventing food waste. Hilcona believes that this heralds "a radical change for gastronomy with sustainability finally receiving the attention it deserves.”
