The Principality of Liechtenstein offers a wide variety of leisure activities for every taste. The country’s geographic location and topography provides numerous opportunities to relax in nature. A plethora of cultural activities, many clubs and associations as well as a modern infrastructure make Liechtenstein a popular place for outdoor and leisure pursuits.
Located in the heart of the Alps, Liechtenstein offers a diverse range of leisure activities both in summer and in winter. The unspoiled nature and the numerous leisure facilities mean there are plenty of options for all ages. Summer in Liechtenstein is typified by hikes on over 400 kilometres of well-maintained and signposted trails suitable for all fitness levels. Cycling is a popular hobby as well, with options ranging from mountain-bike rides into the mountains to relaxing bicycle excursions along the 350 kilometres of cycle paths. Last but not least, a dip in the cool waters at the Mühleholz outdoor pool in Vaduz or the swimming lake at Grossabünt is a must on a hot summer’s day.
In winter it is Liechtenstein's mountains which draw many visitors, with the winter sports resort of Malbun, geared towards families and fans of easy skiing, and the cross-country skiing and winter hiking paradise of Steg. Malbun, with its cable cars and hotels, has been awarded the Family Destination seal of approval by the Swiss Tourism Association in recognition of its family-friendly services and infrastructure. The ski slopes in Malbun range from challenging to easy and are ideal for the whole family.
Liechtenstein’s cultural scene is characterised by its diversity and its popularity across all sections of society. People from all walks of life organise and attend cultural activities. Art enthusiasts find plenty to enjoy in the country’s museums and galleries, be it at the Liechtenstein Museum of Fine Arts with its changing exhibitions showcasing works by internationally renowned artists or at the TAK Theater Liechtenstein with its inspirational plays, dance performances, comedy nights, readings and concerts.
