The Schaffhausen software developer Acronis is opening a data center in Liechtenstein. Service providers will be able to store business-critical client data there. With this latest development, Acronis will now be operating 111 data centers worldwide.

Acronis is opening a new data center located in Eschen, Liechtenstein, a press release has revealed. This will offer Managed Service Providers in Liechtenstein a cloud location within the principality, where they will be able to store business-critical client data. Moreover, cybersecurity solutions developed by Acronis will also be available to the service providers.
“The customers of our partners in Liechtenstein intend to store their data in Liechtenstein as well, particularly with a view to complying with legal requirements”, comments Heiko von Soosten, General Manager Region DACH at Acronis, in the press release.
According to Acronis, an increasing number of its clients are keen for the company to establish a data center in their own country. In this context, Acronis has set its sights on constructing so-called micro data centers, which are “easy to send as a unit to other countries and can be expanded there at any time," explains Soosten.
In total, Acronis currently runs 111 data centers worldwide. Its network comprises locations in Switzerland, the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Singapore and New Zealand – and Liechtenstein can now be added to this list as well.
Yves Meier, Management Board member at the Liechtenstein-based IT firm GMG AG, sees incredible potential for data centers in Liechtenstein. “Due to its excellent connections and general legal framework for data protection, Liechtenstein is increasingly regarded as a target for data centers by future-oriented global companies”, Meier states in the Acronis press release.
Acronis was founded in 2003 in Singapore and has been headquartered in Schaffhausen since 2008.
