Unemployment falls year-on-year
Unemployment in Liechtenstein fell in December 2019 in the year-on-year comparison. It rose slightly compared to the previous month but remains low on an international level.
The latest findings from the Arbeitsmarkt Service Liechtenstein (AMS FL) show that 276 people were registered as unemployed in Liechtenstein at the end of December last year. In a year-on-year comparison, this represents a fall of 49 people. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 per cent to 1.4 per cent. Compared to November 2019, unemployment increased by 0.1 percentage points to 20 people.
Youth unemployment in December 2019 rose by three to 34 people. Compared to December 2018 however, the number fell by eight people. The youth unemployment rate fell year-on-year by 0.3 percentage points to 1.6 per cent.
Among 25-49 year olds, 174 people were registered as unemployed in December last year – 13 fewer than in December 2018. In the 50-plus age group, the number of unemployed people fell by 28 people to 68 compared to the same month of the previous year.
A total of 78 more job vacancies were registered with the AMS FL in December 2019 compared to the previous year, bringing the overall figure to 869. Short-time work caused by economic or weather conditions was reported to AMS FL in December 2019 by three companies.
