Digital Finance Forum Liechtenstein took place for the first time on December 12. According to a press release, some 200 people from business and politics participated in the event.

In his welcoming speech, Prime Minister Adrian Hasler spoke about the new blockchain law, which will come into effect in January. He said that the law is designed to create greater legal certainty for companies and customers in Liechtenstein, adding that he is convinced other countries will follow Liechtenstein’s example in this area.

The new law and innovations in the Liechtenstein financial center were the topic of podium discussions. Christian Keller, head of IBM Switzerland, spoke in his speech about topics such as blockchain, big data and artificial intelligence. He also talked about the opportunities and challenges that these technological trends present for financial service providers.

Digital Finance Forum Liechtenstein, which is organized by the Finance Forum Liechtenstein association and the Skunk event agency, will be held on an annual basis in the future.

Finance Forum Liechtenstein is also behind the well-known Finance Forum Liechtenstein conference, which will next take place on March 11, 2020. Speakers at the event will include Germany’s former economics minister Sigmar Gabriel, UBS Chief Operating Officer Sabine Keller-Busse, and the chairman of the board of directors of Julius Baer, Romeo Lacher.
