Vaduz - Liechtenstein has another Gold Label Energy City. Following Planken and Ruggell, the capital city Vaduz has now also been awarded a gold medal.

Municipalities and cities that continuously advocate the efficient use of energy, support climate protection projects as well as promoting renewable energies and environmentally friendly mobility can apply for the Energy City label. If they are then able to meet even more stringent requirements, these cities and municipalities are also given an opportunity to claim Energy City Gold Label status.

Back in 2012, Liechtenstein became the first country in the world to have 100 percent Energy Cities. However, up to now only Planken and Ruggell had been awarded the Energy City Gold Label. Now Vaduz has become the third city in Liechtenstein to be awarded this status, as the Energiestadt sponsoring association, which is based in Liestal in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, writes in a press release.

In Switzerland, too, additional municipalities and cities have been awarded the Energy City Gold Label. These include four locations in the canton of Zurich: Schlieren, Adliswil, Bülach and Illnau-Effretikon. The other four new Gold Label sites are Hünenberg in the canton of Zug, St.Moritz in the canton of Graubünden, Riddes in the canton of Valais and Fribourg.
