The Green Mountain teams up with SCR Altach

The Green Mountain, a start-up from Landquart in the canton of Graubünden that is part of the Liechtenstein-based Hilcona AG, is making its first moves into the professional football scene in Austria. It will now be involved with SCR Altach (SCRA), an Austrian football team that plays in the country’s top division, the Austrian Bundesliga, in an attempt to enhance the club’s sustainable credentials at its home stadium. Vegan meat alternatives from The Green Mountain are now being served during home games of the club’s first team and youth team, as well as on club nights. This partnership is described as a “resounding victory” for sustainable consumption and climate protection, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the start-up.

The products from The Green Mountain are “not only produced sustainably, but also taste delicious and are healthy too”, according to Christoph Längle, Managing Director of SCR Altach, in the press release. “SCR Altach always seeks to keep up with the times and we are convinced that vegan food should certainly be on offer in football stadiums in 2023”, he adds.

In turn, Werner Ott, Managing Director of The Green Mountain, is “incredibly proud to have this opportunity to enter the sphere of Austrian professional sports”, adding that: “Together with SCR Altach, we can make plant-based nutrition accessible to an even broader target group”. In specific terms, SCR Altach will include a vegan hotdog, vegan burger and vegan meatloaf from The Green Mountain on its stadium menu.
