Hilcona AG is equipping its site in Orbe in the canton of Vaud with an extensive photovoltaic system. The company plans to push forward the sustainable production of high-quality foods with this.

The food company Hilcona AG is further advancing its trend toward sustainable and future-oriented production of high-quality food with a new project. According to a press release, following in the footsteps of the Landquart site in the canton of Graubünden, the Orbe factory is now also being fitted with a photovoltaic system spanning 6,000 square meters.

The solar power system should produce 1.2 gigawatt-hours per year. With this, Hilcona will be able to cover a quarter of the Orbe site’s energy requirement. There are already plans to further expand the photovoltaics on the facade surfaces. Hilcona’s CEO Martin Henck commented: “We are taking climate protection very seriously.” He added that this is why the company is consciously applying a number of measures: “With the photovoltaics system in Orbe, we are now creating another milestone in our green energy supply.”
