The food producer Hilcona has implemented measures at its Landquart site that aim to promote a more economical use of water. Processes have been improved, smart control solutions have been installed and awareness has been raised among employees.

Hilcona is driving the implementation of water-saving measures at its locations. The Liechtenstein-based food producer is kicking things off in this regard at its site in Landquart in the canton of Graubünden, further details of which can be found in a press release. Trending products with a “hand-crafted” character such as hummus, filled pasta and capuns, a type of dumpling popular in the canton of Graubünden, are manufactured at the Hilcona Taste Factory there.

The motivation behind this initiative came from a term paper written by a Hilcona employee, who identified potential ways of reducing water consumption. These related, for example, to the cooling process and the sealing plant. According to Hilcona, the company then discussed ways of developing solutions with the respective manufacturers and employees.

For example, smart control solutions or simple pressure reducers have been installed with the aim of improving processes. In addition, measures have been put in place to raise awareness among employees. Hilcona AG will now also start to promote an economical use of water at its other production sites.
