Hilti toolmaking praised for excellent production
Hilti’s toolmaking unit secured first place in the category of “Internal toolmaking team with less than 50 employees” at this year’s Excellence in Production competition. The win ranks the company among the best in the German-speaking world.
A total of 303 companies specializing in tool and mold making entered the competition in four categories, announced Hilti in a statement. For the “Internal toolmaking team with less than 50 employees” category, the toolmaker from Schaan took the top spot. The competition was organized by the machine tool lab (WZL) of Aachen University (RWTH) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen.
“The entire team is very happy to have won this award after ranking among the finalists in recent years,” commented Unit Manager Hans-Henning Weisbrich. “Placing first is confirmation that we continue to improve and that we have kept pace with the times in terms of new technologies and manufacturing processes.”
Hilti’s toolmaking unit was particularly recognized for its usage of additive manufacturing (3D printing) in serial tool manufacturing as well as the increasing digitalization of processes, according to the statement. The toolmaking unit at Hilti’s headquarters in Schaan supports the Hilti Group’s worldwide manufacturing network.
