In the first quarter of the current financial year, INFICON improved both sales and operating income on the previous quarter. The measurement technology company with a manufacturing facility in Balzers is aiming for sales of US$400 million for the year as a whole.

According to a press release from INFICON Holding AG, the measurement technology company generated sales of US$95.7 million in the first quarter of 2019. INFICON’s sales are therefore lower than the record of US$110.7 million registered in the same quarter of the previous year but have grown by 1.6 percent on the final quarter of 2018.

This pleasing sales development was above attributable to the business segments of General Vacuum and Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Automotive. In General Vacuum, sales were up 5.4 percent on the previous quarter to US$29.3 million. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Automotive registered a year-on-year increase of 2.9 percent, while growth on the previous quarter was 16.3 percent. Conversely, sales in the Semi & Vacuum Coating segment declined by 3.4 percent on the final quarter of 2018 to US$39.2 million.

INFICON reported an operating income of US$16.7 million in the first quarter of the year. This corresponds to an increase of 12.4 percent on the previous quarter and results in an operating income margin of 17.5 percent.

For the financial year as a whole, INFICON is aiming for sales of around US$400 million. The company outlook envisages a target operating income margin of around 19 percent. The headquarters of INFICON Holding AG are in Bad Ragaz. One of its three manufacturing facilities is in Balzers, in neighboring Liechtenstein.
