INFICON increased its revenue by almost 30 percent in 2021. Operating and net income at the global measurement technology company with a location in Balzers even rose by more than 60 percent year on year. INFICON plans to expand its capacity by 50 percent.

According to a press release from INFICON, the international measurement technology company achieved revenue totaling 515.8 million US dollars in 2021. Compared with the previous year, this corresponds to growth of 29.7 percent. INFICON’s operating income increased by 62.0 percent in the same period to reach 100.4 million US dollars.

At 19.5 percent, the operating income margin was 3.9 percentage points higher in the reporting year than the previous year. Net income of 80.3 million US dollars was recorded, which is 63.0 percent higher than in 2020. The corresponding margin increased by 3.2 percentage points to reach 15.6 percent.

All four of INFICON’s business areas saw positive developments. The greatest growth was observed in Semi & Vacuum Coating, where revenue rose by 37.0 percent year on year to 261.4 million US dollars. According to INFICON, this means that around half of all revenue in the reporting year was attributable to Semi & Vacuum Coating. With regard to regions, almost half of the group’s revenues came from Asia. Europe and America each accounted for around a quarter of the total revenue.

INFICON plans to distribute approximately 70 percent of its profits to its shareholders via a dividend at 21 Swiss francs per share. The group also plans to expand its capacity by 50 percent by the end of 2022. The expansion program for this, which was started in the reporting year and continues into this year, includes investments in America amounting to around 10 million US dollars and in Europe totaling 30 million US dollars to do so.
