Ivoclar Vivadent launches intelligent curing light
The latest curing lamp from Ivoclar Vivadent features an automated assistance system to help avoid curing mistakes during the restoration process. The Liechtenstein dental company’s Bluephase G4 can also communicate with the operator.
The precision with which the light-curing process is performed has a substantial effect on the durability of composite restorations, according to a press release from Ivoclar Vivadent. To this end, the Liechtenstein dental composite has launched a curing light that makes it easier for the operater to control the curing process.
The new curing light, called Bluephase G4, uses polyvision technology to detect if the hand piece is moving during the exposure process and if the restoration can no longer be reliably cured. If this happens, the light emits a vibration to warn the operator of the error and, if necessary, “automatically extends the exposure time by 10 per cent”. If the hand piece is moved too much, the Buephase G4 automatically switches off so that the curing procedure can be correctly repeated.
The automated assistance system provides the operator “discrete assistance” for easy handling, explains Ivoclar Vivadent. Together with its ability to communicate with the operator, the Bluephase G4 represents “a whole new generation of curing lights”.
