Young economists make guest appearance in Liechtenstein
The annual meeting of the Austrian Working Group on Banking and Finance has taken place at the University of Liechtenstein for the first time in 2019. Young economists from Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein were afforded the opportunity to present their current research efforts during the event.
The 34th seminar of the Austrian Working Group on Banking and Finance (AWG) took place outside of Austria for the first time, a press release issued by the University of Liechtenstein, which hosted the event, explains. At the University of Liechtenstein, a total of 15 young economists from the University of Zurich, the University of St.Gallen, the Università della Svizzera italiana, Österreichische Nationalbank, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the University of Graz, the University of Innsbruck, the Management Center Innsbruck, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management and the University of Liechtenstein all gathered for the event held at the end of November.
Conference organizer Sebastian Stöckl was quoted in the press release: “Our aim with this event was to encourage the exchange of knowledge among young, talented research economists in addition to facilitating networking opportunities with renowned experts. At the same time, we are attempting to strengthen the integration of the University of Liechtenstein within international research networks”. The works presented by the young researchers dealt with various areas of financial economics, including portfolio management, risk management and exchange rate forecasts in addition to the area of experimental finance.
