ZirkuLIE, a new competence center for the circular economy, has launched its online knowledge portal. The project, which is the brainchild of the Liechtenstein Foundation for a Livable Future, seeks to promote the transition to a circular economy.
The competence center for the circular economy in Liechtenstein has launched its circular knowledge portal. According to a press release, ZirkuLIE is a project initiated by the Liechtenstein Foundation for a Livable Future (Lebenswertes Liechtenstein) that seeks to promote societal transformation in the direction of a circular economy.
In a first step, ZirkuLIE will focus on the construction and real estate sector. To this end, ZirkuLIE works with the knowledge and network platform Circular Hub GmbH, which is based in Zurich. By 2027, the aim is to promote sustainable practices in the construction sector in addition to developing the required implementation expertise.
In this context, ZirkuLIE serves as a central information hub, as the charitable foundation explains further in its press release. Articles, interviews and podcasts with experts on the circular economy within the construction sector are intended to increase awareness and acceptance of circular construction methods.
“It is no longer enough to simply preach sustainability. You also have to live it”, comments Fabian Frick, member of the board of trustees of the Liechtenstein Foundation for a Livable Future, adding that: “With ZirkuLIE, the newly created competence center for the circular economy, the aim is to offer the construction industry in Liechtenstein at all levels targeted support to advance further and even more emphatically the transformation that has already begun in the direction of circular construction”.
To implement circular solutions, ZirkuLIE strengthens regional synergies in Liechtenstein and promotes the use of regional resources. The first project is the humanitarian campaign “Windows for Ukraine” in cooperation with the non-profit association RE-WIN. Moreover, the construction of an interim storage facility in Buchs in the canton of St.Gallen is, in the long run, intended to lead to a permanent storage facility for reusable components in Liechtenstein.
