Trainees from the Liechtenstein coating specialists Oerlikon Balzers have developed a couple of handy tools to support lab staff at the vaccination center located at the Spoerry complex in Vaduz. They innovations facilitate the smooth handling of numerous vials and syringes.

An engineer and several polytechnicians from Oerlikon Balzers have together designed and built tools to simplify the work of lab staff at the vaccination center located at the Spoerry complex in Vaduz. The costs were covered by the training program operated by Oerlikon Balzers, as detailed in a press release.
Their work focused firstly on the development of a device in which ten vials can be clamped before use. This helps with the stage where saline solution is added, before the two substances are then mixed together. Thereafter, the trainees designed syringe holders, which each allow ten pre-prepared syringes to be carried into the vaccination booths. They are designed in such a way that prevents any mix up between different vaccine variants.
Mauro Pedrazzini, Minister of Social Affairs in the Liechtenstein government, was delighted to hear of this ‘made in Liechtenstein’ solution. He was quoted in the press release, expressing his conviction that the two innovations will prove to be very useful at the vaccination center.
