Liechtenstein takes over Telecom Liechtenstein in full
The Liechtenstein government currently holds a stake of 75.1 percent in Telecom Liechtenstein AG. A subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria holds the remaining shares, but has now announced it will be selling off its stake.
As outlined a press release, since 2014 Telecom Liechtenstein AG (TLI) has been under the control of the state of Liechtenstein and Mobilkom Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH as part of an agreement which is still in force. This affiliated company is a subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria (A1TAG), which has now stated its intention to withdraw from the agreement and sell off its 24.9 percent stake. To this end, it has made use of a statutory cancellation period that came into effect after a period of five years. The press release explains that the state of Liechtenstein will therefore “soon become the sole, 100 percent owner of Telecom Liechtenstein AG”.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Daniel Risch, was quoted in the press release: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the representatives of A1 Telekom Austria Group for the close partnership and their achievements over the past five years in terms of further developing Telecom Liechtenstein AG. For the remaining term of our partnership, I am confident, as I have always been in the past, that any outstanding business will be completed and handed over in orderly fashion”.
The Supervisory Board of Telecom Liechtenstein AG is now reviewing its strategic options for the future of the company.
