Liechtensteinische Post AG has set itself the goal of achieving climate-neutral operations in full by the start of 2025. To achieve this, all delivery vehicles are to be powered by fossil-free fuels, among other measures. Last year, emissions were limited to around 1,400 tons of CO2.

Liechtensteinische Post has set itself an ambitious target: The company is striving to operate on a fully climate-neutral basis by the start of 2025. To this end, it is investing in environmentally friendly vehicles and systems, introducing energy-efficient technologies and aligning the business model with the principles of the circular economy, the company writes in a press release. In addition, awareness of climate protection measures is being raised among Liechtensteinische Post employees.

Liechtensteinische Post is working with ClimatePartner Switzerland for its journey towards to climate-neutral operations. The Zurich-based company has calculated the CO2 footprint of Liechtensteinische Post in each of the previous two financial years. The results of these evaluations show that CO2 emissions have already been reduced from 1,652 tons in 2020 to 1,407 tons in 2021. According to the press release, the switchover to electricity generated entirely from regional hydropower supplied by Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke (LKW) played a significant role in contributing to this reduction.

The remaining 1,400 tons or so of CO2 generated per year are mainly attributable to the company’s own vehicle fleet, emissions from employees commuting work and emissions related to third-party logistics, Liechtensteinische Post explains in the press release. Among other aspects, it plans to completely convert its vehicle fleet, which is currently 51 percent electrified, to fossil-free alternatives by 2025. The first new delivery vehicles have already been ordered and are scheduled to be deployed at the beginning of 2023.
