The government has appointed Lothar Ritter as President of the University Council of the University of Liechtenstein. The former Rector of NTB Interstate University of Applied Sciences Buchs, who previously also headed up the School of Technology at OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, is now set to succeed Klaus Tschütscher.

Lothar Ritter has been appointed as the new President of the University Council of the University of Liechtenstein. The government has therefore entrusted Ritter to succeed Klaus Tschütscher in this role, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the University of Liechtenstein. Tschütscher’s four years in office were characterized by his forward-looking and judicious style, the press release states. 

His successor is described as “formative character” in the field of higher education in Switzerland. Before his early retirement at the end of October 2022, Ritter was Rector of the NTB Interstate University of Applied Sciences Buchs and also headed up the School of Technology at OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. In his new position as President of the University Council, the qualified mathematician will bring to the table “solid experience as a professor and executive in universities, expertise in higher education management and an enthusiasm for dynamic expert organizations at the interface between science, politics, business and society”. Born in Switzerland, Lothar Ritter now resides in Mauren in Liechtenstein. He forms part of the leadership team at the location initiative Digital-Liechtenstein, in addition to sitting on the board of the MINT Initiative Liechtenstein charitable foundation and the Gesellschaft Schweiz-Liechtenstein, which seeks to promote and maintain positive ties between Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Moreover, Ritter is also President of the Board of Trustees of the Wyon Foundation.
