The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce (LIHK) will have a woman at the helm for the first time from August. Brigitte Haas intends to focus on ensuring an effective structural framework, so the country can remain a strong business location, she revealed in an interview.

The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce (LIHK) represents 37 member companies, with around 12,000 employees overall. From August, the LIHK will put a woman in charge for the first time. Lawyer Brigitte Haas has been the Deputy General Manager for the past 15 years and is looking forward to the new challenges that await. In an interview with the newspaper Wirtschaft regional, she said she had “always enjoyed taking on responsibility”. In the coming weeks, she and her team will think about what could be done differently in future. Alongside a new website, “greater investment will be made in public relations work”.

Brigitte Haas also identifies new challenges that lie ahead for the LIHK and the country. Liechtenstein has “unbelievable opportunities” by being in both the European Economic Area and the Swiss economic area. However, small nations are increasingly coming under pressure, with international regulations commonly geared towards larger nations. “The cost of implementation is often disproportionate for us.” The LIHK will also be “working to ensure an effective structural framework, so the country can remain a strong business location and therefore a great place to live”.
