Industry experts presented the latest developments in the coating industry at the first Surface Solutions Symposium held by Oerlikon Balzers. The event was met with such great interest that the symposium will be held on a regular basis in the future.

The 75 participants at the first Oerlikon Balzers Surface Solutions Symposium for precision components included customers and visionaries from a variety of industries. The Liechtenstein-based coating specialist invited the participants to its headquarters to teach them about the latest coating technologies and products by means of “inspiring tours and presentations”.

One of the speakers was Marjorie Cavarroc, lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering of the Safran Group. In her presentation, she said that Oerlikon Balzers’ strengths come from its “strong R&D, engineering and close partnerships”. She referred in particular to the company’s partnership with the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Limoges, which was announced at the Paris Air Show in June. It aims to make the aerospace industry safer and more efficient by driving new developments.

“With its exciting presentations and in-depth conversations over the course of two days, the first symposium was met with great interest across the individual markets,” said Ian Howe, head of precision components at Oerlikon Balzers. He added that the interest among customers confirms not only the need to exchange thoughts and ideas in this way, but also the benefits to be gained from doing so.

For this reason, Oerlikon Balzers has decided to hold the symposium on a regular basis in the future.
