In 2019, Liechtensteinische Post AG recorded its best EBIT since it was founded of over 4 million Swiss francs. This was possible due to special stamps and coins celebrating the anniversary of the country’s founding. In contrast, letter business registered a decline.

According to a press release from Liechtensteinische Post AG, the company earned net sales of 44.54 million Swiss francs in the financial year 2019. Compared with the previous year, this corresponds to growth of 6.8 percent. In its press release, Liechtensteinische Post AG said that “the successful marketing of special stamps and coins for the 300th anniversary of the Principality of Liechtenstein” had significantly contributed to the growth, generating 2.62 million Swiss francs in sales, which is 79.3 percent up on 2018.
In contrast, sales in the most important business area of letter business, which has a 30 percent share of overall sales, fell 5.7 percent below the level of the prior year. The company writes that an increase in sales in parcel business of 5.3 percent was unable to compensate for this loss within the year. Sales were able to be increased by 16.3 percent versus 2018 in the business area of logistics.
The press release goes on to state: “The once again very positive business development must not hide the fundamental change in the postal industry.” For this reason, Liechtensteinische Post AG hopes to “continue to consistently review its services and structures and adapt to changing consumer behavior.” In particular, the offering in letter business is to be expanded by new services as well as development of parcel and logistic business.
