Quartz Case from mjm.cc awarded design prize
The agency for design, PR and management, mjm.cc, designed the case for the “Quartz” trophy awarded to the winners of the Swiss Film Prize. The Quartz Case was honored at this year’s Red Dot Award for its well-thought-out design.
The Swiss Federal Office of Culture tasked mjm.cc, a creative agency based in both Switzerland and Liechtenstein, with developing a “protective, handy yet aesthetically-pleasing case design” for the Quartz award, a Swiss Film Prize handed out annually, as outlined in an accompanying press release. The Quartz Case designed by mjm.cc combines modest, unpretentious material with sophisticated processing.
In the Quartz Case, the trophy is encased inside several layers of cardboard. The press release comments that the glass trophy fits perfectly inside the interior of the Quartz Case, remaining largely visible even when the case itself is closed.
At this year’s Red Dot Design Award, the Quartz Case received the eponymous prize for its smart design. The Red Dot Design Award from the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen e.V. is one of the world’s largest international design competitions. It is awarded to products of great design quality across the disciplines of product design, communications design and design concept. The degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability of products are evaluated, among other factors.
