The government hopes to secure jobs in Liechtenstein and bridge companies’ liquidity shortfalls with an aid package of 100 million Swiss francs. It presented the package at a round table event with the economy and wants to present it at parliament this week.

Representatives from trade associations and authorities met at a round table event on Tuesday evening. At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Daniel Risch, they discussed the effects of the coronavirus epidemic and possible measures to support the economy of Liechtenstein.
According to a press release from the government it was at this event that Risch, also Minister for Economic Affairs, presented the cornerstones of the planned set of measures that the government wants to introduce at parliament this very week. This set of measures is set to cost 100 million Swiss francs. Risch is quoted in the press release, saying: “The primary objective is to secure jobs and to bridge any liquidity shortfalls at affected companies. We aim to achieve this goal through a combination of various measures that take cases of hardships into account in particular.”
The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LIHK), the Chamber of Commerce with the board and the presidents of the departments of gastronomy, trade, transport, commercial industry and construction, the Association of Hotels and Gastronomy (LHGV), and Liechtenstein Marketing took part in the round table event. The economic representatives made it clear that medium-term and long-term support was needed in addition to short-term aid, adding that compensation for short-time workers must be developed unbureaucratically, and that legal certainty was required for unanswered questions concerning labor law.
