RhySearch hopes to gain national importance
The Research And Innovation Center Rheintal (RhySearch) plans to gain Swiss recognition as a nationally important center of competence. This will increase the reputation and federal funding of the center, which is supported by Liechtenstein and the canton of St.Gallen and based in Buchs.
RhySearch is applying for Swiss recognition as a technology competence center of national importance. The research and innovation center based in Buchs in the canton of St.Gallen was established in 2013 and specializes in supporting companies with research and innovations in the high-tech areas of optical coating and ultraprecision machining. At the same time, according to a press release from the state government of Liechtenstein, RhySearch is “an important cornerstone of the innovation ecosystem of Liechtenstein and the canton of St.Gallen as an external site of Switzerland Innovation Park Ost AG in addition to the main location St.Gallen Lerchenfeld.” Liechtenstein and the canton of St.Gallen have been joint supporters of RhySearch ever since the research and innovation center since was founded.
The state government argues that recognition as a technology competence center of national importance would increase the center’s reputation and recognition. Additionally, it would raise the entire region’s appeal toward innovative companies and specialists. Furthermore, RhySearch could benefit from annual government contributions as a recognized center.
RhySearch’s application is being supported by Liechtenstein and the canton of St.Gallen. Both supporting regions are prepared to provide the center with additional funds. Specifically, around 19.2 million Swiss francs is earmarked for operations and investments from 2023 to 2028.
