The Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein is holding a series of seminars on the topic of digitization, with the aim of exploring the opportunities and risks faced by companies. The kick-off will take place on February 6 and 7.

The kick-off seminar, which is called “Introduction to Digitization”, will look at “what exactly digitization means for the participating companies, both in terms of risks and concrete opportunities”, said Jan vom Brocke, head of the Institute of Information Systems and holder of the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management at the University of Liechtenstein. Vom Brocke will lead the kick-off seminar together with Thomas Grisold, Assistant Professor for Business Process Management.

In his work with local companies, vom Brocke said he has noticed that the “significance of digitization is often underestimated”. This is why he wants the introductory seminar to “work out in concrete terms what digitization means for individual companies, what needs to be done today, and how digitization can be used for a company’s success”.

The rest of the seminars will explore a range of topics, such as cyber security, digital innovation and artificial intelligence. All of the seminars are designed to provide participants with knowledge that they can then use to address concrete practical challenges.

The Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein is ranked the top of its kind in the German-speaking world and the fourth in Europe in the most recent ranking by the Association for Information Systems. Jan vom Brocke was named one of the 20 most influential economists in the German-speaking world in 2019 by the German weekly business news magazine Wirtchaftswoche.
