University of Liechtenstein implements strategy
The University of Liechtenstein is taking the next step within its strategic plan. From March 1st, there will be an external ombudsman’s office. Two new Vice Presidents will be appointed. The university is also striving for new accreditations.
The University of Liechtenstein’s development and finance plan for 2020 to 2022 is focusing on stability, an increase in quality and good leadership. According to a press release, the university council will create an external ombudsman on March 1st “in order to better meet the demands of good governance.” In light of this, the education institution’s code of conduct will also be adapted, and any secondary employments of university staff members will be made public.
Due to substantive differences in the management of the university, both Vice Presidents, Prof. Dr. Marco Furtner and Prof. Dr. Nicolas Raschauer, will leave their posts. In future they will pursue teaching, research and transfer duties. The succession process is said to be underway.
With regard to financial management, the accounting year will be changed to the calendar year in 2020. Markus Jäger, Executive Director, is in doing so valuing the implementation of the “true and fair view” principle from financial reporting as “a milestone in terms of transparency and comparability.”
According to the press release, accreditation of economics by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is in the final phase. Moreover, the university is said to have contacted the Swiss Agency of Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ) with regard to institutional accreditation. Rector Ulrike Baumöl adds: “All of these steps and measures aim at internationally recognized quality certifications as well as further strengthening quality awareness and reputation.”
