The number of students at the University of Liechtenstein has increased on the previous year by 29 to 707. This is the highest number of students recorded since the university was founded. The university attributes this to its greater attractiveness in other countries.

According to a press release from the University of Liechtenstein, a total of 707 students were registered at the University of Liechtenstein for bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates as at the reporting date of November 15. The number of students had increased by 29 compared with the previous year to reach the highest figure ever achieved in the history of the university.
The Director of the University of Liechtenstein, Ulrike Baumöl, is quoted in the press release, saying: “Our strategy helps us to assert ourselves in this special situation as an individual, high-quality university.” She attributes the increase in the figures partly to the effects of the pandemic, as the popularity of taking a gap year before entering higher education has declined. Baumöl also explains that the university’s activities have also played a part, meaning that “despite massive investments in higher education in neighboring countries” it has been able to “increase visibility as an attractive university in the region and further afield”.
The university registered an increased intake in all courses in the first semesters. The university notes in the press release that the increased interest in the Master’s in Architecture taught in English is particularly remarkable. According to the university, the course has become more widely known abroad due to accreditation of the Faculty of Architecture by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
