Liechtenstein dental company Ivoclar Vivadent has developed an adhesive that is simple and quick to apply. Adhese Universal also reduces material waste because the adhesive material no longer needs to be dispensed into a mixing well.

Adhesives are used in dentistry to bond material to a tooth. They are applied in a manner that the material can be removed at a later date without leaving any residue. Schaan-based dental company Ivoclar Vivadent has developed Adhese Universal, a universally applicable adhesive that is capable of establishing “a sound bond to various types of restorative materials”.

Adhese Universal boasts several advantages. It can be applied with the VivaPen delivery pen, which dispenses the exact amount of material needed for each procedure. And as it is no longer necessary to dispense the adhesive material into a mixing well, Adhese Universal also significantly reduces material waste. According to Ivoclar Vivadent, the 2 millimetres of adhesive contained in the VivaPen are sufficient for approximately 190 single-tooth applications, which amounts to nearly 3 times more applications per millimetre than conventional bottle delivery forms.

Another advantage is that the adhesive reliably cures in just three seconds, leading to considerable time savings. In addition, the material is tolerant to moisture and is mildly acidic. This makes it well suited for any etching protocol and ensures an “optimum bond between the restorative material and natural tooth structure”.
