Hilcona is joining forces with Basel University Hospital. The food company from Liechtenstein is to distribute meals produced by Basel University Hospital to hospitals and care homes. The meals are prepared using MicroPast technology.

To strengthen the Food Service channel, Hilcona AG is further expanding its range with customized product and concept solutions on an ongoing basis”, writes the Schaan-based internationally operating food company in a press release. To this end, Hilcona has recently entered into a partnership with Basel University Hospital (USB). Within the framework of this collaboration, Hilcona will distribute meals prepared in Basel to hospitals and care homes.
The meals from Basel are cooked using the “highly promising MicroPast technology”, Hilcona writes further in the press release. This term signifies “an even and short cooking procedure” using microwaves, in which “the food is carefully prepared and gently heated again shortly before serving”, explains the USB on its Internet portal. The university hospital is described in Hilcona’s press release as a “pioneer in this field”, which also boasts “extensive expertise in nutritionally demanding care catering”.
