Hilti has improved its sustainability rating given by EcoVadis. After silver in the previous year, the Liechtenstein tools manufacturer has now been awarded a gold rating by the international sustainability rating agency. In particular, Hilti made progress in the area of sustainable procurement.

EcoVadis has awarded the Hilti Group a gold sustainability rating for 2021, as the tools manufacturer from Schaan reported in a press release. This puts Hilti in the top 5 percent of all 75,000 companies assessed worldwide by EcoVadis. Last year, Hilti had received a silver rating from EcoVadis.

The agency specializing in sustainability ratings assesses companies on the basis of 21 criteria in the four main topic areas of environment, labor and human rights, fair business practices and sustainable procurement. As reasons for the upgrade to gold, EcoVadis identified progress at Hilti with regard to sustainable procurement and the role of sustainability factors in the selection of suppliers. It also recognized the systematic, holistic approach taken by Hilti in the area of labor and human rights.

“We are pleased that our intensive efforts to become more sustainable as a company are already beginning to bear fruit,” said Christoph Loos, CEO of the Hilti Group. “Our gold rating reaffirms that we take this seriously,” However, Hilti will not rest on this result, as Loos explains: “We want to become the leader in our industry when it comes to sustainability.” In its expanded sustainability strategy, the Group has set itself targets such as achieving CO2 neutrality in the company’s own value chain as early as 2023.
