Hilti receives twelve awards in two competitions
Hilti has received twelve awards in two prestigious international design competitions, the Red Dot and the iF Design Award. Various new construction machines received awards. A total of 287 patent registrations in 2020 also back up the company’s innovative power.
Several Hilti innovations have won awards from this year’s iF World Design Guide and Red Dot for their design quality and level of innovation. According to a press release, the tool manufacturer and fastening technology specialist also ranks among the top 100 patent applicants in Europe once again. The company views both achievements as a “sign of Hilti's innovative strength”.
In total, Hilti registered 287 patents in 2020. The Hilti Group brought 74 new products and services to market over the past year. Despite the pandemic and the resulting decline in sales, it has continued to invest in strategic initiatives. As such, 358 million Swiss francs was invested in research and development last year. This corresponds to 6.7 percent of sales.
Jaibot, the new semiautonomous, mobile construction-site robot for drilling ceilings that is capable of BIM (building information modeling), received the highest Red Dot award in the Product Design category, the “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. The Jaibot received another Red Dot award in the Smart Products category, which assesses networked, digital products with particular consideration of their smart features. The Jaibot was also awarded by the IF World Design Guide.
The PMD 200 laser device and the SF4-A22 cordless drill driver also received awards from both competitions. The TE 500-AVR breaker and the TE 70-ATC/AVR hammer drill now also have the seal of quality from both organizations. Another iF Award went to the VC 20M-X and VC 40M-X groups of universal vacuum cleaners, which are also able to remove drilling slurry.
