Hilti makes positive start to 2022
In the first four months of 2022, the Hilti Group generated total sales in excess of 2 billion Swiss francs, which equates to a rise of 5.6 percent on the same period of the previous year. High growth rates were observed in the Americas and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa sales regions.
According to a press release issued by Hilti, the globally active construction machinery manufacturer from Schaan generated total sales of around 2.03 billion Swiss francs in the first four months of 2022. In comparison with the same period of the previous year, this equates to growth of 5.6 percent in Swiss francs and as much as 9.0 percent in local currencies.
“The global supply bottlenecks, combined with massive price increases for raw materials and for energy and transportation, have been further exacerbated by the war in Ukraine and the current lockdowns in China”, explains Hilti CEO Christoph Loos in the press release. “Against this background, our continued growth is encouraging. However, the first four months have shown that 2022 will be much more challenging than last year”, he adds.
During the reporting period, Hilti was able to record growth across all market regions. At 15.4 percent in local currencies, the strongest sales growth in percentage terms was registered in the region Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Double-digit growth of 10.9 percent in local currencies was also achieved in the Americas region. In Europe, which is the Group’s most important region with sales of 1.06 billion Swiss francs, growth in local currencies amounted to 8.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. The Asia-Pacific sales region posted only slight growth of 1.1 percent in local currencies.
For 2022 as a whole, Hilti expects an economic slowdown to hit the construction industry. Nevertheless, the Group will still strive to achieve double-digit sales growth in local currencies. This is to be achieved primarily by increasing prices.
