European Digital Innovation Hub arrives in Liechtenstein
The EU has nominated the blockchain-oriented portal digihub.li as the European Digital Innovation Hub for Liechtenstein. This represents another step in the direction of a digital future for the Principality.
The digital information center digihub.li will from now on operate under the status of a European Digital Innovation Hub. According to a press release, this development comes on the back of the evaluation results of the most recent call for tenders from the European Union, which have now been announced. Accordingly, digihub.li beat off competition from two other applicants from Liechtenstein. For the Principality, this represents another step in the direction of a digital future, the press release explains.
With a network of Digital Innovation Hubs spanning right across Europe, the European Commission is seeking to support the digital transformation of the European economy, tourism and public administration. In addition, there is a focus on promoting and developing digital skills of the European population.
The digihub.li portal focuses on topics such as blockchain and the token economy in connection with sustainable and regenerative business models. In this context, digihub.li offers four core services: With an innovation ecosystem, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public administration bodies are supported in the development of digital business models. Digital skills are promoted among employees of these companies. Digihub.li also offers personal consulting on digital transformation projects. Furthermore, innovation spaces are offered to start-ups, SMEs and investors with the aim of building and scaling digital business models.
The official start of the European Digital Innovation Hub in Liechtenstein is planned for the second quarter of 2023. The Landtag of Liechtenstein, which is the unicameral parliament of the Principality, had already adopted a resolution pertaining to the relevant funding for this, which will now be made available to the winner of this latest call for tenders.
