The Liechtensteinische Post is launching a new postage stamp embroidered from recycled PET thread. Philately Liechtenstein is issuing the “Globe” stamp to promote the recovery of recyclable materials from waste. A share of the proceeds will flow into the Global Field Plus project.

he Liechtensteinische Post AG tasked the embroidery manufacturer Hämmerle & Vogel from Lustenau with designing and producing these stamps. This company had previously stitched a stamp in the shape of a princely hat to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Principality of Liechtenstein, as commissioned by Philately Liechtenstein. The new stamp in the shape of a globe is not only intended as a collector's item or for franking a postal item, it can also decorate clothes or other accessories to show a personal commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
Philately Liechtenstein is dedicating a share of the sales proceeds from this special postage stamp to the Global Field Plus project. This is an initiative of the Farmers' Association in the Principality of Liechtenstein (VBO) and the Liechtenstein Society for Environmental Protection (LGU) dedicated to the “promotion of biodiversity in Liechtenstein’s cultivated landscape”. The 2,000 m2 of each Global Field represents the arable cropland available per person in the world. There are currently two Global Fields in Liechtenstein in Mauren and Vaduz.
