University of Liechtenstein researching digital tools for choir practices
In a new project, the University of Liechtenstein is examining the suitability of digital resources for choir rehearsals. The Hilti Chair for Business Process Management has received Erasmus+ funding for this purpose. The project is also intended to counteract the disappearance of choirs caused by the pandemic.
The Hilti Chair for Business Process Management at the Institute for Information Systems of the University of Liechtenstein is carrying out a new research project on the issue of virtual choir meetings. Together with colleagues from the Mozarteum University Salzburg in Austria and the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Germany, the researchers in Vaduz are looking into the question as to how choir practices can be carried out online with the help of digital tools, further details of which can be found in a press release. This project aimed at digitizing choir rehearsals is also being funded in part by the Erasmus+ program, which is run by the European Union (EU).
The aim of the project group is to develop technological solutions, choral pedagogical approaches and recommendations for increasing technology acceptance and promoting social interaction. The solution approaches should then be evaluated by way of an online laboratory choir before later being applied to other professional and private contexts.
The researchers are keen to better understand the advantages of digital formats and test hybrid rehearsal formats. They could potentially facilitate international choral projects. The project could also offer new perspectives on the disappearance of choirs across some regions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“We can continue to sing together in times of a pandemic, but maybe also break new ground in a more general way, for example if we are on a business trip or want to involve friends from further away”, comments Jan vom Brocke, Hilti Chair for Business Process Management and head of the Institute for Information Systems, in the press release. He has identified “interesting opportunities for further profiling, especially for Liechtenstein” in connection with the project.
